Website Update

July 12th, 2010

If you’re reading this, you will probably have noticed we’ve given the site a bit of a makeover! As well as updating the overall look and feel, with the addition of a lot of new photos, we’ve also got a new video for you in the Media section featuring our versions of The Thin Wall / Cars from our February Citrus Club show. More additions are planned in the near future, but for now we hope you like the new site!

Facebook Page

June 1st, 2010

Just a quick update to let you know we’ve now created a formal Facebook band page – for a while now, we’ve had a group page here on Facebook but we’ve come to find that these type of pages aren’t very good for keeping in touch with everyone who has shown an interest in the band so it seemed about time we set up a proper one. So you can all add us now as a friend! Hopefully this will be a better way to help spread the word about what we are doing.

Changes to this website are also on the way – as well as a general lick of paint, we’ve also got some great audio recordings from our last couple of shows, together with video footage from our February Citrus Club gig, so we’ll be sharing some of that with you. We’ll let you know just as soon as that all goes live.

In the meantime, if you haven’t already seen them, Vikki McCraw has a fantastic set of photos from the recent 100 Club gig with The Messengers which you can see here.

See you all soon!

100 Club – Sunday 11th April 2010

April 18th, 2010

Setting up at The 100 Club

Many, many thanks to everyone who came to see us at our gig with The Messengers last weekend at the official Voxgate at The 100 Club in London. I think it’s fair to say that the event surpassed everyone’s expectations and that is in no small way due to all the hard work and financial investment put in by the Extreme Voice crew – Paul, Pippa, Rob and Cerise. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to play at the event and at such a prestigious venue at that! Thanks also to The Messengers, who we were humbled to be supporting, it was a pleasure to share the stage and your Jack Daniels with you. And thanks of course to everyone who came to watch and especially those who took the trouble to come and tell us how much you enjoyed the show afterwards. We’re thrilled to see so many photos and videos appearing around the web following the show, we really appreciate your support and we hope to be able to play another gig down your way soon.

Setlist for those that are interested:

- I Travel
- Hungry Like The Wolf
- Don’t Go
- Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You)
- Today
- The Thin Wall
- Cars
- New Song
- Mirror Man
- The Sun Always Shines On TV
- Enjoy The Silence
- Planet Earth
- Vienna

Some of you have mentioned the keyboard levels. There was certainly something seriously wrong for the first few songs with nothing coming out at all and although we got that resolved as we went on, it was never quite right for the rest of the set. I think what caused the problem this time is that the sound tech didn’t realise that Don is usually triggering sounds from my module rather than his own synths and as a result he thought he was miming most of the time and didn’t realise that between the sound check and the show something had gone wrong. Plus we had to reconfigure everything for a mono mix at the last moment, which we were not expecting and that may also have had a part to play with levels. It’s not really anyone’s fault – these things happen and it’s a particular hazard if you need to use someone who is unfamiliar with your set up to run your FOH sound as they don’t necessarily realise anything is wrong! And of course once we get going it’s something we can’t do anything about because up on stage we have no idea about what you can hear (it’s hard enough to hear ourselves!). But we hope it didn’t spoil your enjoyment too much.

The highly talented Vikki McCraw travelled with us and took some fantastic shots during the day which we hope to share with you soon. In the meantime, Brian Devine a.k.a. Matey Bloke has placed some video clips on YouTube which you can access as follows:

Intro / I Travel
Hungry Like The Wolf
Mirror Man
Vienna

Thanks again to everyone involved in making it such a special day and we hope to see you again soon.

March Update

March 19th, 2010

First of all, a belated thank you to everyone for coming to our gig at The Citrus Club on 12th February. We hope you all enjoyed the show! Thanks also to Analog Angel for coming though from Glasgow and playing a fine supporting set, the staff at the club and everyone else who helped us put it all together – it’s a lot of work putting on a show like that and we really do appreciate all the help that people kindly give us.

As before, we have video footage from this show (thank you again, Susanna!) and this time we were also able to get a multitrack of the audio (we tried last time but the power got cut before we could save the session), so we hope to use both of these to get some more footage up on the site and on YouTube when we get a minute.

And for those that couldn’t make it, here’s what you missed:

- I Travel
- Hungry Like The Wolf
- Dancing Girls
- Pale Shelter
- New Life
- Today
- Save A Prayer
- The Thin Wall
- Cars
- Love On Your Side
- Temptation/True Faith/Confusion/Bizarre Love Triangle
- Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You)
- Safety Dance
- Mirror Man
- The Sun Always Shines On TV
- Enjoy The Silence

- Don’t Go
- Planet Earth
- Say Hello, Wave Goodbye

Next up is our first ever London show by kind invitation of the fine folk from Extreme Voice. We’re appearing at the offical Ultravox pre-show ‘Voxgate’, which is taking place on Sunday 11th April 2010 at The 100 Club, Oxford Street, London, mere hours before Ultravox themselves take the stage at Hammersmith Apollo. On the day, we will have the very special honour of supporting The Messengers, who are fondly remembered by Ultravox fans as both the support band and backing musicians for many of Ultravox’s tours back in the 80s. Colin and Danny who comprise the band were also prolific collaborators with Midge Ure, Danny notably co-writing Midge’s number one hit ‘If I Was’. Whilst they sadly never achieved significant chart success in their own right, they nevertheless amassed a strong body of material (check out the Midge Ure produced single ‘I Turn Into You’ on YouTube). We look forward to sharing the stage with them during this very special one-off.

Details on the gigs page and further information is also available on the official event page at Ultravox.org.uk.

Citrus Club Gig – this Friday

February 8th, 2010

Hi everyone, just a quick reminder about our next gig which is taking place this Friday at the Citrus Club. We’re nearly ready to go and we’ve got a great set lined up, with a whole load of new tracks that we’ll be doing for the first time. We don’t want to spoil the suprises but we can probably get away with telling you that amongst others there’ll be a new Duran Duran track, a new one from Talk Talk, we’ll be plundering the back catalogue of Simple Minds for the first time, brushing the dust off one of Ultravox’s more up tempo hits with a brand new version and if fans of New Order felt a bit cheated when we did the Thompson Twins in the style of Blue Monday last time… well, you’ll just have to wait and see. Plus we’ve got more lights this time, new videos – it’s going to be great. We really hope you can make it along.

Don’t forget also we have a fabulous support act in the form of Glasgow’s Analog Angel and I do urge anyone coming along to make sure you get there early and catch their set. I think anyone who likes the sort of thing we do will find a lot to like about the Analog Angel sound so please do your bit to support this great original Scottish electronic band!

If you haven’t got your ticket yet, don’t forget we are selling them here on the site at the special advance price of £7.00 with no booking fee but beware, we’ll need to take this option down before the day of the gig so get in there quick if this is something you want to take advantage of. Alternatively, advance tickets are also available at Tickets Scotland and Ripping Records (subject to booking fee). Remember, admission on the night is £10.00. Full details over on the gigs page.

Look forward to seeing you on Friday!

Bad Manners reminder

December 29th, 2009

Just a quick message for those that are braving the artic climate to see us at The Picture House tomorrow with Bad Manners, as predicted timings are going to very tight on the night as there’s another event following directly afterwards, which means we will be on stage at 7.15PM – that’s only 15 minutes after doors open, so don’t hang around!

Hope to see some of you tomorrow, if not have a great new year, thank you for your interest and support in 2009 and hopefully we’ll see you in February when we are doing our next full length gig at The Citrus Club (details below).

 Cheers!

 Mike, Don and Steve

First Anniversary Show announced – 12th February 2010

December 14th, 2009

To mark the first annniversary of our inaugural gig, Party Fears Three are pleased to announce that we’ll be back at The Citrus Club in Edinburgh on Friday 12th February 2010 with another full length headlining show! As usual, expect a wide range of some great electronic based classic eighties tracks together with our special light and video show and – most important of all – loads of dry ice! Not wanting to rest on our laurels, we’ve been hard at work on a whole host of new tracks and whilst some of the old favourites will no doubt make a welcome re-appearance, we are definitely aiming to make this very much a new show. So if you enjoyed the gig in August, please do try and get along in February as we plan to make  this one even bigger and better!

And to help us in this, we’re especially pleased to annouce we have a fantastic support lined up in the shape of Glasgow’s Analog Angel. If you follow the electronic scene you may well have already come across these guys who have been creating a stir on the internet with some fantastic tracks, very much in the vein of classic Depece Mode. With a new album – Dischord – hot off the presses, they are definitely worth checking out.

Tickets are available now priced £7.00 if bought in advance from the venue, Ripping Records and Tickets Scotland (Edinburgh branch). We are also going to be offering online tickets sales here on the site in the next few days so keep an eye on the site if this is something you’d be interested in. Advance tickets may be subject to booking fees. Admission on the night will be £10, so please do make sure you take advantage of the advance booking discount if you plan to come along.

As usual, ticket price also gains you entry to Planet Earth, Edinburgh’s long running and popular retro club night which follows the gig and runs until 3.00AM (normal admission price for Planet Earth is £6.00). Doors for the gig itself open at 7.00PM with all bands finishing by 10.30PM.

Don’t forget, we’ve also got our support slot with Bad Manners at The Picture House fast approaching on 30th December. Out of necessity, it will be a shorter set but we do have a special one-off surprise track planned for that night – shall we say, in keeping with the vibe of the other two bands playing that night - so if you want to find out what that is, there’s only one way to find out!

Thanks again to all of you who have supported us so far. We look forward to seeing you all again very soon!

Supporting Bad Manners in Edinburgh

November 8th, 2009

Party Fears Three are very pleased to announce that we will be supporting another well loved eighties band, this time Bad Manners – featuring the legnedary Buster Bloodvessel - at the HMV Picture House in Edinburgh on 30th December 2009. Tickets are available now at the usual outlets (see flyer above) and are £15 STBF. At this time of year, for most people this will be a day off so hopefully you’ll be able to join us and help round off what has been an exciting first year for the band in style on the best stage in Edinburgh. With additional support from local ska band This ‘R’ 2-Tone, and a riotous performance assured from Buster and the boys, it promises to be quite a night.

August 17th, 2009

Just a quick note to say thank you all for coming along on Friday, we weren’t sure how many we were going to get, especially during the Festival when there are so many other demands on people’s time and wallets so to get such a big turn out was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was great seeing so many people having a good time, dancing and singing along and getting right into the show. That’s what makes it all worthwhile!

In case there were any you didn’t recognise, here’s the set list:

- Safety Dance
- Wishing (If I Had a Photograph) Of You
- Love On Your Side
- Pale Shelter
- Talk Talk
- The Damned Don’t Cry
- Everything Counts
- Vienna
- Save A Prayer
- New Song
- Mirror Man
- Don’t Go
- Always On My Mind
- Love Kills
- Enjoy The Silence

- The Sun Always Shines on TV
- Planet Earth

- Just Can’t Get Enough

Some quick thank yous – Andrew Savage once again for tireless work at the desk which resulted in a great sounding show (we sadly cannot hear it properly from the stage but I have been told by quite a few people how good the front of house sound was), Phil/Anowrexiya for a great supporting set, Susanna for helping video the show (we’ve got some great footage plus an off the desk

sound recording and we’ll be putting some of it online very soon), Wendy for the photos, all the staff of the Citrus Club for all their help throughout the evening and to Bryan for supporting us and giving us the opportunity to grace a stage that is so closely associated with the music we do.

Finally, I’m pleased to say there’s something rather special already in the pipeline – hopefully we’ll get everything confirmed soon and then we can share it with you all. In the meantime, thanks again for supporting us on Friday and for making it such a memorable night.

Support Band

July 26th, 2009

We’re pleased to annouce our support at our 14th August Citrus Club gig will come from local industrial/EBM band Anowrexiya. I’ve seen them perform live before supporting some of bigger names on the alternative electronic circuit and they’re well worth making the effort to see. Please come along early and give them your support!

Tickets for the show are now available at Ripping Records and Tickets Scotland. Alternatively the club has a batch and you can also get them direct from Don or myself. Remember it’ll be more expensive on the night, so grab an advance ticket if you can!
